Acne is skin condition that occurs as a result of an overproduction of oil from the oil glands. Acne results in pimples which are small skin swellings that sometimes contain pus, blackheads which are dark formations on the skin due to an accumulated mixture of oil and cells in a blocked skin pore, whiteheads which are small flesh or white colored bumps due to skin pore blockage, and cysts which are most serious and which are closed sacs beneath the skin or deeper and contain fluid.

Acne conditions can range from being so mild that the person may only get a few pimples a month to being so serious that it causes them to lose their confidence and self esteem. Some people suffer from acne so bad that they feel as though they are deformed and often will not even leave the house.
