The organic food industry has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last eighteen years, bringing in twenty times the amount of money that is made eighteen years ago. There are many reasons for the organic food industry growth in recent years, some of which have to do with studies that have found certain chemicals and hormones that are used in traditional farming and ranching methods to be harmful to adults and children. In order to prevent these effects, individuals have been turning to the natural and organic food industry for foods that are made in as close to their natural environment and state as possible.

The organic food industries growth is partly due to the fact that they guarantee that their foods are made without the use of pesticides and fertilizers which are made of toxic chemicals.
Instead, they use farming methods that help to naturally replenish the soil so that it is not stripped of nutrients as readily. They also refuse to use other practices that are common in traditional farming and ranching such as using genetically engineered animals and plants, and also refusing to use sewage sludge as a cheap means of fertilization.
In addition to the organic food industry growth, there has also been a growth in the organic products used in beauty and skin care, since individuals have become concerned in those areas as well about the toxic products that they were using on their faces and bodies. These products as well are guaranteed to be naturally made without those toxic ingredients that are difficult to pronounce on the back of traditional products. There are restaurants that are also refusing to use traditional products and use all organic ones in their cooking. This has also caused a rise in organic food industry growth since these restaurants want to be able to promote the fact that all their food is organically made and healthy for the individuals who come to their restaurant to eat.
There have been organizations and laws passed in recent years to help to monitor the organic food industry’s growth since there were some farmers who were calling one way of farming organic and others calling another way of farming organic. Having these watch dog organizations in place and the laws in place have helped to ensure that when an individual buys a product marked organic it really is organically grown or made, free of toxins.
